Mission for Deaf ChildrenCelebrates Renovations12/17/2009
The President of Liberia, Madame Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, dedicated a newly renovated building for the deaf children of ACFI on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the hour of 3:00. This very important occasion was also graced by Mrs. Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US Ambassador, and her husband.
Speaking at the formal dedication ceremony, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf commended the Liberia Ship and Corporate Registry (LISCR) for the provision of a US grant which was used for the rehabilitation of the school. The rehabilitations were implemented by Mr. Robert Sirleaf through a Chinese firm. President Sirleaf acknowledged the efforts of her son and Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield's husband who have been previously involved with the school and saw the need for the renovations. Among many improvements were windows and a water tower. The tower allows for running water through the facility, so the children can use the toilets and take showers, a real luxury in Liberia. The children were also given toys by Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield. The Daniel Hoover Children's Village Mission School children were there to celebrate. The President was very happy to see them, and she also expressed great joy at being presented with a handmade Liberian quilt created by the director of ACFI's children's programs. Join with us in celebrating God's great provision for the children! Joyfully, Georgia George and Angel Rutledge Liberian Adoption Director and African Child Sponsorship Coordinator
